Abstract: This article mainly outlines the application of the pneumatic clamp opener in the aluminum profile anodizing production line, specifically for the mounting process. It describes the entire process of the clamp opener's evolution from manual to plastic pneumatic, and then to stainless steel pneumatic. Practical application examples are used to illustrate the evolution of a product from scratch, from primitive to complex, and from simple to mature, sharing the details of the product development process.

1. Introduction

In recent years, the aluminum processing industry has paid close attention to all aspects of environmental protection and sustainable development. Aluminum processing enterprises need to adopt more environmentally friendly production methods to reduce their impact on the environment. By adopting clean energy, optimizing production processes, and improving resource utilization efficiency, they can actively fulfill their social responsibilities and promote the green development of the industry while ensuring economic benefits.

2. The Development History of Clamp Openers

As an important component of the aluminum processing industry, production auxiliary fixtures also bear the responsibility of sustainable development. How to make an auxiliary product achieve economic benefits while promoting green development is an important issue for this industry.

The traditional anodizing process initially used aluminum wire binding, which was inefficient, had high losses, and wasted electricity. In 2004, the aluminum industry saw the emergence of the first generation of manual anodizing clamps, representing a certain improvement. After two years of exploration and research, our company developed a new type of manual quick clamp and obtained the first national intellectual property invention patent in the field of anodizing clamps. Since 2016, our company has been developing pneumatic clamps and dedicated pneumatic clamp openers, and has been continuously improving and optimizing them to date. This entire R&D process perfectly embodies the theme of "how to make a product sustainable . " The entire development process of the pneumatic clamp opener is described below:

2.1 Origin of the pneumatic clamp opener for oxidation lines

Initially, the mounting process on horizontal oxidation production lines generally used "aluminum wire bundling." With the development of "manual clamps," the traditional mounting method was gradually replaced by clamps. In order to facilitate opening, the handles of the early manual clamps were generally made relatively long according to the torque principle. Adhering to the spirit of "people-oriented and continuous optimization," our company has continuously optimized the clamp products and boldly developed an early pneumatic short-tail clamp. Later, in order to further reduce the accumulation of acids and alkalis, a semi-circular pneumatic clamp was developed, and its matching clamp opener also developed in tandem.

2.2 Initial version of pneumatic clamp opener

In the early stages of clamp opener development, a manual clamp opener was developed. While it met the needs of general production, it offered no significant advantages in operation compared to traditional clamps. Around this time, the first generation of pneumatic clamp openers was successfully developed. Resembling a gun in appearance, it represented a significant advancement in both ease of use and safety. However, its drawbacks included a relatively short lifespan, a plastic casing that lacked impact resistance and was prone to deformation, and inconvenient maintenance.

2.2 Evolved version of the pneumatic clamp opener

Faced with these challenges, our company's leadership took them very seriously. The on-site support staff and R&D personnel were extremely anxious, hoping to further optimize the product and provide customers with a satisfactory product. After joint discussion and research, we decided to develop a stainless steel clamp opener to overcome the lifespan issue through material improvements. After countless days and months of effort, the A-type stainless steel clamp opener was finally born. Our support team immediately took it to our partner company for on-site communication and testing, and it was initially successful. In the following days, through continuous collaboration with the company, listening to the usage requirements of on-site operators, and incorporating the opinions of on-site management personnel, we further optimized and improved the clamp opener on the original basis. From the initial A-type, we continuously optimized it, progressing to C-type and then E-type. At this point, the pneumatic clamp opener was already a relatively mature product.

2.3 Optimized version of pneumatic clamp opener

The pneumatic clamp opener model E has been widely recognized by customers in various aluminum companies. However, to further optimize it and standardize and streamline related maintenance parts, thus facilitating self-maintenance for individual customers, our R&D team has continued to develop models F and M. These two products have significant advantages: The main advantages are as follows:

2.3.1 The pneumatic system of the clamp opener is refined , requiring a low level of air pressure and ensuring high safety ;

2.3.2 The clamp opener has a simple overall structure, is easy to install, and has low maintenance costs .

2.3.3 It uses air as the working medium, and the exhaust treatment is simple, does not pollute the environment, and has very low operating costs;

2.3.4 The speed and force are easily adjustable, they can respond quickly to intermittent motion, and they have a strong ability to adapt to impact loads and overloads, further improving usability and safety ;

2.3.5 The all-pneumatic control system is explosion-proof, fireproof, moisture-proof , and anti-magnetic interference under extreme conditions . It can also work normally in harsh environments such as high temperature. It has good durability and long service life .

2.4 Main version of pneumatic clamp opener

Currently, the main product being promoted is the M-model clamp opener. Through continuous optimization, it has undergone many detailed improvements compared to the F-model, which are also evident in its appearance. For example, the metallic finish gives it a more premium feel, and the ergonomic design of the handle is more scientific, making it easier to use. Of course, the tool's practicality and durability are its most fundamental characteristics. As a production tool, its performance is always our top priority and the area we focus on optimizing to best capture the hearts of our customers.

3. Sharing insights from the R&D process

From 2016 to 2024, we, as production staff, have truly experienced the entire evolution of clamp openers, from nothing to something, from plastic to metal, and from clumsy to refined.

The entire process was filled with hardship and difficulty. Everyone involved, whether it was the R&D team, the sales staff, the production department, the order processing personnel, the aluminum production colleagues who cooperated, or even the competitors from outside, all played their different roles. It was under the combined impetus of such a complex group of forces that a small product continued to grow. Every small step forward was gratifying, just like parents watching their children grow up.

Everyone must fulfill their responsibilities, communicate closely, and work together to achieve the ultimate goal. During the development process, we also need to continuously learn, think, and experiment, and not overlook any details.
